Fellow Cadets:

I have a couple of items that I would like to address:

March 16 CAP meeting:

--This meeting will be devoted to ES training.

--Ground Team Members and those who attended the 2 January 2009 ES session: bring your 24-hour packs to the meeting! Please have them packed with the required items. We are going to be checking them off this meeting. If you cannot obtain some of the items, complete the 24-Hour pack as much as you can--we'll work on completing them in the meeting.

SAREX:

--The SAREX (Search and Rescue Exercise) is approaching. It will be the 21-22 of March (Sat-Sun). We need as many cadets as possible to show up--this is very close to a mandatory event. However, only those who have completed the CAPT 116 and 117 will be able to participate in this event (links to these tests are posted on the blog). (FEMA tests are not required for this activity.) Therefore, if possible, those who haven't completed these tests should take them this upcoming weekend/week in order to have the testing under their belt and in order to procure the necessary permission to participate.

--There are two reporting areas: the Wausau Municipal Airport (WMA) and the Stevens Point Airport (STE). Those cadets not participating in ground team, will be working at WMA at mission headquarters. Those cadets working with ground team will be working around STE. Reporting time for cadets at both WMA and STE will be at 8:00 a.m. Finishing time on Saturday will be around 5:00 p.m. Ground Team has the possibility of camping overnight in the Wausau area (location to be determined). Sunday times will be dependent upon the tasks done on Saturday, but right now, the times look the same: beginning time 8:00 a.m. and finishing time around 5:00 p.m.

--Ground team will need their 24-hour packs ready for this event. We will be training hands-on in search and rescue techniques throughout the weekend.

This SAREX information will be reiterated and discussed in greater detail at the upcoming CAP meeting. Talk with your parents about the possiblities of your participating, get your gear together, and come to the meeting prepared for a great time!

If you have specific questions regarding this event, write them down and bring them to the meeting.

Regards,

CC
